built in the 1930's, this unique grade 2 listed building was designed and built by ove arup, who subsequently had connections with the construction of the sydney opera house.
in 1998, chris topping, after 30 years of catering experience, was able to purchase the building which he had first seen and admired some 30 years before. the building was in a state of neglect and with the help of family and friends it was restored and refurbished in a modern style, but with the advice from english heritage, maintained it's original design.
the panoramic views of the thames estuary are unique and uninterrupted from this vantage point. the resulting restaurant and beach bistro offer a wide variety of dishes at realistic prices using prime ingredients.
